This is a hardwood log inoculated with shiitake mushroom spawn. Logs were made in February 2018. It takes 5-9 months from time of making to adequate spreading of mycelium throughout the log. After that when conditions are right the log will fruit with shiitake mushrooms. This variety is a wide range strain that can fruit between 50 - 75 degrees F when adequate moisture is present. Shiitake logs make a great gift and are a fun, easy way to harvest your own food right out your back door.
